Why habitats matter

Forests, meadows, bogs and waters provide living space for plants and animals, clean water and air, and help soften the effects of floods and drought. When habitats fragment, species lose the ability to move and recover.

What anyone can do

  • Leave an unmown corner of a yard or garden for insects
  • Plant species native to the area
  • Follow the rules in protected nature areas
  • Never leave waste in nature, and pick up what you find

Our role
